Sound Testing

Our Sound Testing Technicians are all UKAS Accredited.

There are two types of Airborne Testing & Impact Testing.

Airborne Testing:

Speakers are used to generate white noise in the 'source room.'

Using a moving microphone technique the average sound level is measured.

The same procedure is then undertaken in the 'reciever room'

The airborne sound insulation can then be calculated, taking into consideration the background noise & reverberation time measurements.

Impact Testing:

This involves a tapping machine, to create impact sound directly onto the floor construction in the 'source room.'

Measurements are then taken in the 'reciever room.'

Atleast 6 Measurements are taken in at least 4 different positions.

The impact sound pressure level is then calculated, once again taking into consideration the background noise & reverberation time measurements.
